As the largest city in the largest wheat-producing county in Nebraska, Sidney

is an integral part of life in Cheyenne County.  The Sidney Public Library serves

the entire county.  The library’s bookmobile serves Cheyenne and Kimball counties.

The Sidney Public Library is a full-service library and, as such, offers a wide range

of programs and services.  The library carries almost 50,000 volumes of books for

adults and children, large-print books, audio/video items, puzzles and magazines. We offer an exceptional children’s reading program; there are pre-school story hours along with story time for school-age children; our summer reading program has entertained children for decades.  We also offer an adult reading program during the summer.

The library boasts a genealogy room for those interested in searching their

family trees, and we have an extensive genealogical collection, through a

collaboration with the Cheyenne County Genealogical Society.  We are the

repository for the Sidney Sun and Sidney Telegraph newspapers, and hold

the microfilm for those papers from the newspaper’s inception in the

1870s to the present.

The Library offers an online library catalog, wireless internet, and word processing computers. For your relaxation the library has an outdoor reading garden. Here are some additional useful LINKS…..
